‘Sisterella’ Plans: Tribeca Productions and Disney subsidiary Miramax Films have bought the Broadway and motion picture rights to Larry Hart’s original musical “Sisterella.” A separate production of the musical--billed as a contemporary Cinderella--opens March 17 at the Pasadena Playhouse, where pop star Michael Jackson and Jerry Greenberg (president of Jackson’s MJJ Records) are co-producing. Jackson and Greenberg also have the rights to the cast album, but Jackson never intended to produce the show on Broadway, Greenberg said Thursday, adding that “he could never devote the time and energy to it” because of his musical commitments. This marks the first time that Tribeca, headed by actor Robert De Niro and producer Jane Rosenthal, will co-produce stage and screen versions of the same material.
