V-Chipping Away

Regarding the television industry and the V-chip: I think the entire program rating system undermines the ability of parents to select programs that they find suitable for their own children to watch. That is not another person’s business. On the other hand, if parents are irresponsible enough to leave their children unattended in front of the TV set, then the government should be focusing on reforming parents, not televisions. Parents should be mailing fat checks to network executives for baby-sitting their children for all these years. If parents expect better service, they should turn elsewhere and quit complaining about what’s on television.
