Warner-Lambert to Sell Generic Drug Unit: The Morris Plains, N.J.-based company said it has signed a contract to sell Warner Chilcott Laboratories to Nale Laboratories, a privately held company based in Ireland. A Warner-Lambert Co. spokeswoman said the company expects to close the deal later this month and would not immediately disclose terms. Warner Chilcott had 1995 sales of $125 million. Nale said the acquisition will create one of the top 10 U.S. developers and marketers of generic drugs. Warner-Lambert Chief Executive Melvin Goodes said the sale is part of a strategy to shed non-core divisions to concentrate on its core prescription drug, consumer health-care and confectionery businesses. The new business will be called Warner Chilcott Inc.
