Timothy J. McVeigh’s attorney has asked that the Oklahoma City bombing defendant be allowed to have a computer with a CD-ROM drive, a television and a VCR in his cell to allow him to review evidence. Attorney Stephen Jones made the requests to the Denver authorities who are taking custody of evidence from the April 19 federal building bombing. He said it would be cheaper to allow McVeigh to review witness transcripts, which are being transferred onto CD-ROMs, on a computer in his cell than to have lawyers bring paper documents to him piecemeal and stay with McVeigh while he reviews them. The CD-ROMs also would take up less space and create less of a fire hazard, Jones said.
