Firestone, His Mobile Unit to Make 2 Stops

Share

Assemblyman Brooks Firestone (R-Los Olivos) plans to meet with constituents in two separate Ventura locations Friday in a retired school bus the legislator uses for such sessions.

Firestone will stop at the Ventura County Government Center from 10 a.m. to noon at 800 S. Victoria Ave. in section F of the rear parking lot. The assemblyman and his bus will then roll on to the Marina Village Shopping Center at 1000 S. Seaward Ave., where Firestone will stay from 1 to 3 p.m.

Firestone representatives said the bus--called the District Utility Mobile Business Office, or “Dumbo”--was purchased solely with money from Firestone supporters.

Valerie Kushnerov, a Firestone field representative, said the mobile unit lets the legislator meet with the maximum number of constituents in a district that stretches from Lompoc to Santa Paula. The assemblyman has one district office in Santa Barbara.

“Our district is so large and it is necessary to make sure that the assemblyman is in all the different cities on a regular basis,” Kushnerov said. “We want to ensure that the constituents in the southern part of the district feel that they have access to [him].”
