House and Senate Republican leaders said they will approve a brief, unconditional extension of the government’s borrowing authority, through March 29, to avert a possible default by the Treasury. The House is set to take action today on the debt-ceiling bill and another spending package to keep the government operating through the end of the fiscal year.
