FTC Sues 7 Firms in 900-Number Sales Scheme: The agency said the defendants used deceptive practices in selling investors “turnkey” 900 number businesses. The Federal Trade Commission said that some or all of the defendants made false earnings claims and failed to give investors federally required prepurchase information, including the financial history of the 900 number businesses being sold. Among the seven firms are four based in Los Angeles: Genesis One Corp., doing business as Bureau One; Bureau 2000 International and Malibu Media, doing business at the same address, and Pioneer Communications.
