The New West Symphony this weekend will present its first opera performance--”La Traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi--with performances at the Oxnard Civic Auditorium and Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

The New West production will star Cynthia Clayton, in her fourth season at Opera San Jose, as Violetta. The role of Alfredo, her impassioned suitor, will be sung by Matthew Kirchner, also from Opera San Jose.

English subtitles for the romantic tale--based on Alexander Dumas’ novel and play “La Dame aux Camelias”--will be projected above the stage.
