Bailey Jailed

I can’t believe I’m speaking up in support of a lawyer. But this jailing of F. Lee Bailey stinks (March 7). It’s another example of government arrogance, a display of the “entitlement” mentality, that just because government has the power to seize others’ property, it has the concomitant right.
I see something else even more sinister--the attempt by government to win the drug war by destroying its legal defense mechanism--defense lawyers. This is Nazi stuff and doesn’t belong in a so-called “free” country.
If government can destroy the defenders of drug dealers because drug dealers are an unpopular group, which unpopular group is targeted next? Teenage gangs? Skinheads? This is the road to totalitarianism and genocide.

* Doesn’t Bailey’s being sent to jail add a little more luster to the law profession? I’m looking forward to no-fault auto insurance and the flat tax. Then, we won’t need as many attorneys.
