Helmet Law
Re “Easy Riders Turn Savvy Lobbyists,” March 7:
As a longtime rider, here are some facts: When the proponents of no-helmet laws say their vision and hearing abilities are diminished when wearing a helmet, it’s a smoke screen. I wonder what they say when their employers require them to wear safety glasses? Would they protest the same way they protest wearing helmets? It’s really not a safety issue, it’s a macho issue!
The helmet law makes sense because it forces a rider into protecting himself, kind of like seat belts do.
