Westside : Vandals Smash Door of Jewish Library
Vandals smashed the glass door of the Shul--a nonprofit Jewish lending library and outreach center in Santa Monica--and stole $5 from the donation box early Friday.
The take was small, but the significance was tremendous to the Shul’s leaders. The incident follows other recent violent acts against the Jewish gathering spot.
The most hateful crime occurred about a month ago, when anti-Semitic comments and swastikas were scribbled in the Shul’s guest book.
However, police consider Friday’s incident a random break-in, similar to others that have been occurring in downtown Santa Monica, said Police Sgt. Gary Gallinot.
