The public is invited to catch a glimpse of the newly discovered Comet Hyakutake next week at a free lecture being held by the San Juan Institute, a nonprofit science foundation.
The lecture will include information about the nature of comets and how best to observe Hyakutake. Telescopic viewing of the comet will be conducted from the institute’s parking lot, weather permitting.
Although several telescopes and binoculars will be provided, comet watchers are encouraged to bring their own binoculars. The two-hour event is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the San Juan Institute, 31872 Camino Capistrano. Information: (714) 240-2010.
