Military Strikes Out on Missile-Defense Tests

WASHINGTON —
The U.S. military Friday failed for the second time in two attempts to shoot down a missile with another missile in a test of the planned high-altitude defense against nuclear attack.
“An intercept was not achieved,” the Army and the Pentagon’s Ballistic Missile Defense Organization reported after the test of the Theater High-Altitude Area Defense at the Army’s White Sands, New Mexico, missile range.
