Texan Was U.S. Fatality in Bosnia
The U.S. soldier killed in a vehicle accident in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday was Pfc. Floyd E. Bright of Houston, Army headquarters in Bosnia said Saturday.
Bright, 19, was a passenger in a truck making a supply run that ran off a temporary bridge, overturned and dropped about 60 feet. The accident happened near the town of Gornje Babine, southeast of Tuzla.
The truck’s driver, Pvt. Joseph E. Dory, 22, of Edwards, Colo., suffered a broken shoulder blade and bruises. He was listed in good condition at a mobile Army surgical hospital at Camp Bedrock near the town of Donja Visca.
Bright was the second American soldier killed in Bosnia since President Clinton sent almost 20,000 U.S. troops there in the NATO-led mission enforcing the Dayton, Ohio, peace agreement signed late last year.
The military said the cause of Friday’s accident was under investigation.
