Candidate Knabe

Share

Your reasoning for not endorsing Don Knabe to succeed Deane Dana sounds a little like visiting the sins of the supervisor on the chief deputy (editorial, March 18). Granted, Knabe is not Kenneth Hahn, but even the Board of Supervisors needs some variety of thought.

County Supervisor Deane Dana rode Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential tsunami into office and made few waves after that. Unlike fellow conservatives Pete Schabarum and Mike Antonovich, however, he was willing to sometimes compromise.

Most of that middle-ground advice came from Knabe and, as your news articles have pointed out, Knabe is willing to take a new look at limiting county campaign contributions--even if that comes after his own run for supervisor.

You note that Knabe benefits from contributions from the usual suspects; but if that is the main criteria, you’d better take another look at some other county candidates.
