From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Planned Parenthood of New York City, which performs thousands of surgical abortions a year, said it hoped to offer drug-induced abortions by June. A spokeswoman said the procedure involved patients taking the drugs methotrexate and misoprostol in three visits to a doctor that would end unwanted pregnancy in the privacy of their homes. Only women who have gone no more than 56 days since the first day of their last menstrual cycle would be eligible, Planned Parenthood said. The Roman Catholic Church in New York condemned the procedure.
