TWA Says Justice Dept. Probing Delta Deal: Trans World Airlines Inc. said the Justice Department was investigating its lease of 10 airport slots at New York’s LaGuardia airport to Delta Air Lines Inc. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, TWA said the investigation by the department’s antitrust division is based on “certain grievances or complaints” filed by ValuJet Airlines. In November, a federal judge rejected ValuJet’s breach-of-contract and antitrust claims against the deal. St. Louis-based TWA and Atlanta-based Delta proceeded with the transaction after the ruling. In the SEC filing, TWA said ValuJet had amended its original lawsuit filed in federal court in Atlanta. TWA said it intends to vigorously defend itself and said the allegations are without merit.
