Firefighters’ 3% Raise Is Retroactive to July
A retroactive 3% pay raise for the city’s firefighters, their first since 1991, won City Council approval this week.
The one-year contract for the Fullerton Firefighters Assn. will also give members a 0.75% raise effective Saturday in exchange for a reduction in retirement benefits. The contract is retroactive to July 1, 1995.
Members of the union, which represents 80 fire department employees, received a 5.5% raise five years ago.
The average annual base salary for a Fullerton firefighter is from $45,000 to $46,000. Most firefighters, however, work overtime hours that boost the average annual total to about $63,000 a year.
