Gov. Pete Wilson on Wednesday named attorney Jamoa A. Moberly as judge in Harbor Municipal Court.

Moberly, 44, of Irvine, has been a partner in the Newport Beach firm of Schell & Delamer since 1990. She was an associate in the firm for nine years before that.

Moberly worked for two other law firms after graduating from University of California Hastings College of Law in 1976. She received her bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego in 1972.

Moberly serves as an arbitrator in Orange County Superior Court and belongs to the Orange County Women Lawyers and Los Angeles County Bar Assn.

“That’s great news. We’re always delighted when one of our members achieves one of her goals,” said Lucina Moses, an assistant city attorney in Anaheim and president of the women’s lawyers group.

Moberly fills a vacancy created when Judge Richard F. Toohey was elevated to Orange County Superior Court.

The annual salary for a municipal judge is $98,070.
