Open Space Group Seeks Public’s Ideas

Want more open space preserved? Got your eye on a particular piece of undeveloped land?

If so, the board of directors of COSCA, the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency, would like to hear about it. The directors are having a workshop--open to the public--tonight at the Civic Arts Plaza to set priorities for possible land acquisitions for the agency.

The open space agency, a joint venture between Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Recreation and Park District, went to the public several years ago to come up with a priority list. One property that was high on that list, Broome Ranch, has since been bought and turned over to the public.

COSCA Chairwoman Rorie Skei said she hopes to see a free-flowing discussion among the board members, staff and the public. Although funding for more land acquisition is limited, the agency wants to know what pieces of land are valued by the community.

“We’ll figure out what would be on our wish list,” Skei said.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the board room at the plaza.
