Buchanan Backers

Your March 28 editorial refers to Pat Buchanan’s “extremism” and to us supporters as “the fringes.” About 415,000 of us voted for Buchanan out of a total of 2.25 million, so you have said in effect that about one of every five of us voting Republicans belongs to so-called “fringes” and supports “extremism.” This hateful personal attack properly belonged on the next page under the Column Left heading and it would have been interesting to see which of your editorial writers would have signed it.
