ROSES STILL BLOOM

The three remaining members of the Stone Roses have vowed to soldier on despite the recent departure of primary writer and musical architect John Squire. In a bitter statement, the Roses say they feel “cheated” and “disgusted” about Squire’s leaving in the middle of the recording of a new album. But with plans to recruit a new guitarist, they are “feeling stronger and more optimistic than ever.”

In contrast, Squire took a kinder tone in a statement explaining that the split was “the inevitable conclusion to the gradual social and musical separation we have undergone in the last few years.” He wished his former mates “every success and hope they go on to greater things.”

Squire is also recruiting partners for a new band. There’s no word as to when either a new Roses or Squire album will be released.
