A Little Relief on a Taxing Day

Share

Every captive audience needs a show. And there were an abundance of performers at Terminal Annex Post Office downtown Monday, as publicity seekers greeted last-minute tax filers.

There was the Aztec dancer delivering tax returns for a Mexican restaurant and the guys from a local pizza joint handing out slices.

And then there was the Bill Clinton look-alike dishing up 1,500 cups of InTAXicating Chocolate Relief, care of Baskin-Robbins.

Tax filers rushing through the downtown post office offered curious looks at the pitchmen, among them a couple of guys who brought along a billboard-size tax form and handed out Post-It samples that said, “Sign Here.” A public relations executive speaking for 3M, a major paper products firm, said the company wanted to remind people to sign their tax returns.
