Mazda Raises U.S. Car, Truck Prices: Mazda Motor of America issued the 1.4% price hike just four days after Ford Motor Co. said it would take control of the Japanese auto maker. Mazda said the nearly across-the-board price increase averages about $248 per vehicle. The increases on Mazda’s Protege, Miata and other lines are effective today. The move follows Ford’s announcement last week that it would invest $479.8 million to raise its stake in Mazda to 33.4% from 24.5%. The move would give Ford control of Mazda’s board and a former Ford executive will become president of the Japanese auto maker. Mazda said the price of its Miata convertible is now $18,750, the 626 ES four-door sedan is $22,995 and its B300 two-wheel-drive trucks are $15,390.
