Teen Enters Plea in Intimidation Case

Share

A Royal High School senior on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of intimidating witnesses in connection with previous charges of making terrorizing threats to a Moorpark teen who allegedly spurned her advances.

Carolyn E. Grill, shackled at the ankles and wearing a blue Ventura County Jail jumpsuit, wept through most of the hearing. Her bail is set at $25,000. The 18-year-old is accused of waging a five-month campaign against Richard Hart, an 18-year-old Moorpark High senior, and his family.

Grill was charged with the two felonies for allegedly violating a judge’s order to stay away from Hart and continuing her harassment of him.

She was charged March 13 with misdemeanor charges of making annoying telephone calls and vandalism after the Hart family complained of receiving crank telephone calls and magazines and pizzas they did not order.

The next day, investigators allege, Grill damaged two of the Harts’ cars with a key, which included scrawling an obscenity on the trunk of one of the cars. A preliminary hearing was set for next month.
