Ed Wood Screenings Scheduled in May

Ed Wood’s troupe of actors will reunite after 41 years for the premiere of the new feature “The Haunted World of Edward D. Wood Jr.” and a previously lost feature, “Crossroads of Laredo.”

The 1950s “Hollywood Premiere” theme of searchlights, stars and glamour takes place May 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Nuart Theater, Santa Monica Boulevard at the San Diego Freeway. Screenings will continue through May 7.

There will also be a performance at 10:30 p.m. by Gregory Walcott, the Rev. Lynn Lemon, Loretta King, Norma McCarty, Crawford John Thomas and others.

An Ed Wood star is schedule to appear at each show. A “Vampira” look-alike contest will be judged by the original Vampira at the May 2 shows.

Regular show times are 6:45 and 9:30 p.m. On May 3, there will be a midnight show; shows at noon and at 3:30 p.m. are planned for May 5 and 6.

Cost for the May 1 opening is $17.50; all other shows are $7.50.
