2 Entertainment Lawyers Form New Firm

Leroy Bobbitt and Virgil Roberts, two prominent African American entertainment lawyers, have formed their own firm, Bobbitt & Roberts in Santa Monica.

Bobbitt was a lawyer at Loeb & Loeb, while Roberts was president and general counsel for Solar Records/J. Himes Co., working with such music figures as Jimmy “Jam” and Terry Lewis and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds.

The firm’s clients include Interscope Communications, Solar and NATPE International.

* Consolidating its television operations, Universal Family Entertainment and Universal Cartoon Studios have been folded into MCA Television Entertainment. Barbara Fisher, president of MCA Television Entertainment, will oversee family entertainment in addition to her current responsibilities.

Jeff Segal, president of Universal Family Entertainment, will become a producer in a deal negotiated with the MCA Television Group.

* Norman Schoenfeld has been named vice president of programming and media at the Left Bank Organization, a music industry management and marketing firm.

* RED Distribution has appointed Ken Antonelli senior vice president/general manager.

* Spencer Entertainment has named Lionel Schaen president.

* Michael Becker has been named director of program development for Merv Griffin Entertainment.

* Giant Records founder and owner Irving Azoff has changed the name of the label to Revolution, naming Missy Worth to the position of senior creative executive.

* Kevin Gasser, a former music agent at Creative Artists Agency, has been hired as senior vice president at Hollywood Records.

* Roger Ames has taken over as president of PolyGram Music Group and will assist PolyGram CEO Alain Levy in running the Dutch conglomerate’s global record division.

* Blair Westlake was named president of Universal Pay Television and Television Business Development.
