Valleywide : Annual Health Fair Planned at Local Sites

Health Fair Expo ‘96, an annual American Red Cross-sponsored event that promotes preventive health care and awareness in the community, will take place at several area sites starting today.

Free health screenings and information will be available to interested adults, 18 and older, at the following locations:

* Nutritional counseling, dermatology screenings and oral cancer examinations will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at Valley Senior Service and Resource Center, 18255 Victory Blvd., Reseda. All screenings are free. Blood-profile testing will be available for $25 and prostate cancer blood screening for men will also be offered for $25. Information: (818) 705-2345.

* Health screenings will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Panorama Mall, 8401 Van Nuys Blvd., Panorama City, as well as a “Healthy Lifestyle Center” featuring information on nutrition and stress reduction. A cardiac risk blood profile and a prostate blood screening test will be available for $25 each. Mission Community Hospital and El Proyecto del Barrio are also hosting the event. * The Santa Clarita Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall, will offer free health screening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, including a stroke test from 10 to 11 a.m. A blood profile and a prostate cancer screening will be available for $25 each. Information: (805) 255-1588.

* Valley Presbyterian Hospital, 6100 Sepulveda Blvd, Van Nuys, will hold a health fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday featuring vision, blood pressure, body-fat composition and posture screenings. Other tests include a blood profile for indications of heart disease, kidney disorders and diabetes for $25, and a prostate cancer test for men 40 and older for $50. Information: (818) 902-2986.

* Calabasas High School, 22855 Mulholland Highway, will host a health fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday featuring free nutrition and diet counseling, podiatry screening, HIV/AIDS information, and body-fat testing. A blood analysis will be offered for $25, and a prostate cancer blood test for men 40 and older for $50. Kol Tikvah congregation and Columbia West Hills Medical Center are also sponsoring the event.
