Free Trash Day Scheduled Sunday

Share

Moorpark residents will be able to dump their trash for free Sunday at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center.

The free trash day is one of several held throughout the year as part of the dump’s contract with the city. Trash will be accepted only from those with proof of Moorpark residency, such as a driver’s license.

The dump will accept household rubbish, furniture, concrete, asphalt, wood and green waste. No tires or hazardous waste will be accepted.

Residents should separate recyclables so they are not dumped into the landfill. Loads must be covered and residents must unload their own trash.

The landfill, at 2801 Madera Road, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If residents are willing to wait, the city also offers free curbside collection of bulky items once a year. Bulky items include sofas, mattresses, water heaters, washers, dryers, dishwashers, freezers and refrigerators.

Large appliances may also be dropped off at no cost at G.I. Rubbish’s yard for recycling at 195 W. Los Angeles Ave., Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

For more information on these services, call Jill Meyers, Moorpark’s solid waste coordinator, at 529-6864, Ext. 248.
