Counting the Wrongs in Riverside Beatings

Share

I agree with Dolores Sanchez’s “In Riverside, Wrong’s on Both Sides” (Second Opinion, April 13) when she says the beating of three illegal immigrants by Riverside sheriffs’ deputies was “wrong, wrong, wrong.”

I do, however, find it incredible that as she lists the wrongs on the other side, nowhere does she mention the illegal immigrants themselves. She cites the wrongs of the Mexican government for allowing smugglers to operate, the smugglers for treating human cargo like animals, and “American citizens and employers” for using and abusing the labor of illegal immigrants. Sanchez makes reference to the illegal immigrants as “innocent, desperate and gullible people.” They are not innocent, they too are wrong, wrong, wrong. They knowingly and willfully break the laws of this country.
