Rouwenhorst, Stewart Pitch No-Hitters
Two Orange County pitchers, Jonathon Rouwenhorst and Josh Stewart, pitched no-hitters in Olympic League baseball games Friday.
Rouwenhorst (6-2) struck out 17 to lead Brethren Christian past Ontario Christian, 5-0. Sean Ireland had a home run and two runs scored for visiting Brethren Christian (12-6, 7-2 in league).
Stewart (6-0), a junior, also had the game-winning run batted in with a fourth-inning sacrifice as first-place Calvary Chapel (13-4, 9-0) beat Whittier Christian, 2-1.
In the Academy League:
Downey Calvary Chapel 13, St. Margaret’s (5, mercy)--Nick McCleary pitched a no-hitter with five strikeouts for Downey Calvary Chapel.
In the Century League:
El Modena 8, Foothill 6 (9 innings)--Cesar Vasquez had a two-run homer in a three-run ninth for visiting El Modena (5-14, 3-6).
Villa Park 5, Orange 3--Evan White had four hits and two RBIs for Villa Park (10-8-1, 5-4).
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 7, Buena Park 0--Michael Garner pitched a five-hitter and struck out 10 for host Fullerton (14-4-1, 8-0-1). Garner (6-1) dropped his earned-run average to 0.26 and has gone 42 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run.
Sonora 12, La Habra 6--Jeremy Weinberg hit two home runs and had four RBIs for Sonora (15-3-1, 7-2).
Troy 10, Sunny Hills 4--Kris Green hit a grand slam in the third inning to give Troy (7-10-1, 1-6-2) a 4-0 lead.
In the Empire League:
Cypress 3, Kennedy 0--Phil Seibel pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk for visiting Cypress (16-3, 8-1). Seibel improved to 8-0.
El Dorado 6, Century 0--Jordan Dejong gave up four hits in six innings and had seven strikeouts for El Dorado (11-9, 6-3).
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 4, Rancho Alamitos 1--Senior Lo Ngo gave up three hits over six innings for Bolsa Grande (13-4-1, 5-2).
Garden Grove 7, Santiago 1--Matt McDonald had a hit and four RBIs for Garden Grove (10-10, 4-3).
Pacifica 11, Los Amigos 1--Bryan Fierro had two hits and four RBIs and Paul Tessier went two for two with five stolen bases for Pacifica (10-8-1, 5-2). Tessier had only four steals going into the game.
In the Golden West League:
Servite 10, Santa Ana 3--Ryan Brown was three for three with an RBI and Jim Monroe pitched a five-hitter for Servite (13-7, 6-3).
Westminster 7, Saddleback 2--Mike Carey and George Torres combined on a four-hitter for Westminster (14-5, 6-3).
In the Orange League:
Anaheim 2, Magnolia 0--Joe Palacio pitched a three-hitter and had an RBI for Anaheim (6-14, 3-6) in its victory over first-place Magnolia (7-2 in league).
Brea Olinda 7, Valencia 6--Dan Smith had two hits and three RBIs, including a two-run triple in the fifth, for host Brea (11-8, 7-2) .
Savanna 2, Western 0 (9 innings)--Jack Boggs and Juan Avalos cored in the ninth on an infield error for Savanna (2-11, 2-7).
In the Sea View League:
El Toro 6, Corona del Mar 4--First-place El Toro (15-4-1, 7-1-1) rallied from a 3-0 deficit, led by Joe Smith, who had three hits and four RBIs. El Toro is ranked fifth in the county.
Irvine 6, Newport Harbor 4--Ryan Brucker’s RBI double in the top of the sixth gave Irvine (11-7-1, 6-2-1) a two-run lead.
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 5, Trabuco Hills 4--Mike Kolbach, who had two RBIs, pitched a complete game for top-ranked Mater Dei (16-2, 9-0).
In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 10, Los Alamitos 2--Brain Cacitori had three hits and four RBIs and Bo Bryant had three hits for Esperanza (10-9, 6-4).
