Trouble Continues in Baseball Between Arizona State, UCLA

Arizona State pitcher Ryan Bradley hit UCLA infielder Troy Glaus with a pitch for the second time this season during the Sun Devils’ 8-4 victory Saturday at Jackie Robinson Stadium, increasing animosity between the Pacific 10 Conference rivals.

Glaus came to the plate with one out in the ninth inning and a runner on second. After Bradley went ahead on the count, 0-2, he hit Glaus in the back. The sophomore took a few steps toward the mound but was restrained by home-plate umpire Gus Rodriguez. Bradley was not ejected.

When play resumed, Bradley struck out Tim DeCinces, retired Pete Zamora and then, according to a UCLA spokesman, screamed an obscenity toward the Bruin dugout. UCLA third base coach Brian Criss yelled back at Bradley, delaying the game again.

On March 30, Bradley was ejected from a 9-7 loss to the Bruins at Tempe, Ariz., after hitting Glaus in the head with a pitch. Bradley served a four-game suspension. Arizona State is already on probation because of a postgame fight with USC earlier this year.
