New Manager for Marquis Management

Share

A judge has appointed Santa Ana lawyer Richard A. Marshack trustee for bankrupt Marquis Management Group, one of Southern California’s largest managers of homeowners associations.

Based in Santa Ana, Marquis filed for bankruptcy in February. In appointing the trustee last week, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Lynne Riddle said the firm’s managers were unfit to guide the company through bankruptcy reorganization.

“We’re going to bring in the right computer systems to get the company’s finances in order. We can downsize the company and save money,” Marshack said. Formed in 1989, Marquis has more than 100 contracts with homeowners associations in Southern California and manages 11,000 units.

All calls to Marquis in Santa Ana are being referred to Marshack, said Betty Curl, an assistant with the company. Former owner Alan Staggs left the company the week before it filed bankruptcy on Feb 13. Diane Fullerton, a company executive and currently Marquis’ majority shareholder, said she was cooperating with the new trustee.
