From Your Hands to Your Screen

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The moving finger that writes in the late 1990s can now do so on a computer, with the help of Handwriter, an electronic tablet and cordless pen that transfers the user’s handwriting or drawing onto a computer screen.

Handwriter, a 6-by-9-inch thin tablet, offers an excellent alternative to typing, as well as annotating, and completing hand done graphics. It also can be helpful to people suffering from repetitive stress injuries.

In the text mode, whatever is written on the tablet turns to type on the screen. In the electronic ink mode, the user’s handwriting or drawing is transferred directly to the screen.

Handwriter, from Communication Intelligence Corp., has a 10-foot cord that plugs into a computer, so the user can operate the pen and tablet either at a desk or on his lap.

Handwriter for Windows and MacHandwriter for the Macintosh retail for about $260. Both are available nationwide at CompUSA and Computer City. Or call (800) 888-8242.
