Sherman Oaks : Feuer to Host Meeting on Luxury Project
Responding to community concern about an 80-acre luxury housing development proposed for Deervale Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains, City Councilman Mike Feuer will host a neighborhood council Thursday.
City planners, building-and-safety representatives, homeowner groups, concerned citizens and the developer, Shawbeth Inc. of Glendale, are expected at the meeting. Landscape architecture students from UCLA, who studied the site, will make available the results of their research.

Home prices--Details about home prices in the proposed development for Deervale Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains were unclear in a story Tuesday. Projected home prices range from about $500,000 to $3 million.
The meeting “provides a unique opportunity for neighbors concerned about hillside development to have input early in the planning stages of an important project,” said Feuer, who represents the area.
Shawbeth Inc. has submitted a project description to the city, detailing a ritzy, 24-home development on the scenic ridge.
Richard Close, president of the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Assn., has said that the grading involved will spoil the sensitive mountain range and that traffic from the development will clog canyon roads. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Sherman Oaks Elementary School, 14755 Greenleaf St.
