World IN BRIEF : ITALY : Disgraced Ex-Premier Cleared of Graft
Disgraced former Prime Minister Bettino Craxi was acquitted of graft for the first time at a trial that delivered a guilty verdict for media mogul Silvio Berlusconi’s younger brother Paolo. The Milan court ruled that Craxi, who lives in self-imposed exile in Tunisia and has four previous graft convictions, did not receive money stemming from bribes paid on property deals. Paolo Berlusconi was found guilty of paying $810,000 in kickbacks on property sales between 1982 and 1985 and sentenced to 30 months in prison.
