* Re “CSUN Freshmen Bring Baggage,” Valley Perspective, March 14.
The message that K-12 public schools must do a better job is only one conclusion to draw from the revelation that 70% of CSUN’s freshmen arrive unprepared for college.
Instead of asking public schools to do a better job, it is we parents who need to do a better job of where we choose to send our children to school in the first place.
If we want our children to start getting an education we have to be willing to unzip our wallets as parents and businesses. Either we come to the aid of our children and all children, and give them a decent, challenging and dignified education in the private sector, or the rampage of angry youth who spent their childhood warehoused in 2,000-plus student holding tanks will continue until we can’t ignore them anymore.
