Slaying of Lawyer Sharron Dean

Re “Compassion of Slain Educator, Lawyer Recalled,” April 23: Thank you for your article on my friend Sharron Dean. Sharron and I were study partners in law school, which also blossomed into a beautiful friendship. We spent countless hours studying, talking, crying and working over the hardships and trying times experienced in law school, especially when you are a single parent, as we both were.

I lived the pain and the joy that Sharron endured during her years in law school. I also lived the pain and the joy of her taking and passing the bar exam. I lived her struggle with her, and it not only pains me, but it angers me that someone who has no respect for human life can simply end it all with one bullet. She deserved to reap the fruits of her labor. I cannot understand this senseless killing.

Sharron was an exceptional person, and was good friend not only to me, but to all who knew her. If not for Sharron, I would have quit law school. She made it her goal to talk me out of it. She had a way of looking at the worst situation with humor, and making you laugh through your tears. I know she will be missed by many.
