Share

A well-known Holocaust survivor whose short-subject documentary won an Oscar in March will speak Sunday at Temple Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks.

Gerda Weissman Klein, who won an Academy Award for the documentary, “One Survivor Remembers,” has also written an autobiography, a novel and a children’s book. Her work with the mentally disabled led to the establishment of the Blue Rose Foundation organization in New York.

Klein is married to Kurt Klein, a U.S. intelligence officer during World War II who rescued her from a concentration camp. An earlier documentary of her rescue and their romance also received an Oscar nomination in 1984.
