Incorporations Jump 6% in First 3 Months

Share

More on business development: State records show that 1,573 new businesses were incorporated in Orange County during the first three months of the year, an increase of nearly 6% from the first quarter of 1995.

A report by Santa Ana-based CDB Infotek says there was a 5.7% hike in business formation statewide, to a total of 13,788.

“The economy is obviously stronger than in recent years,” CDB President Rick Rozar says. But not all those new businesses are the result of growth and expansion. Corporate cutbacks have a way of creating new businesses too as displaced professionals strike out on their own to avoid officially joining the jobless.
