Liberal Solutions
I have some comments on Ruth Rosen’s April 28 Column Left regarding President Clinton and the gender gap.
The partial list of ideas presented by the women at the luncheon Rosen attended in California is quite exemplary of typical liberal solutions--more government involvement using more of our tax money. Note the following:
Universal health care--run by the federal government; govern- ment-regulated and subsidized care for the elderly; support for the president’s national youth pro- gram--run by the federal government; a higher minimum wage--more government intrusion on business; government loans and tax deductions for college education; retraining of laid-off workers--by the federal government; money for schools, not for prisons--federal funds again.
