From Times Wire Reports

Firefighting crews worked to contain a northern Arizona forest fire that briefly forced evacuation of a dozen homes during the night. No homes were damaged but some fences and yards were burned, said Sonya Tena, a spokeswoman for the Coconino National Forest. The 300-acre fire started in ponderosa pines on the northeastern outskirts of Flagstaff. It was 30% contained by fire lines, made by scraping away flammable vegetation with bulldozers and hand tools. In east-central Arizona, meanwhile, a fire that charred 61,000 acres of forest and desert brush in the Tonto National Forest was contained.
