Taking Board to Task Over Restructuring

Share

* At a recent board meeting we heard the resignation of Supt. Mary Beth Wolford. She states she will stay to see the magnet/restructuring in place. I support her decision to hang in there until December. This was her dream to create a ninth- through 12th-grade high school and a magnet. You know that old saying, if you’re going to dream, dream big. Well, she did.

The magnet accompanied with restructuring has reached the million-dollar mark. School board members and administrators have been spending money like water since last year on this dream. This community has been deceived with statements it won’t cost anything. It cost big time.

It’s time to hold board members accountable for their past statements. Diane Collins, Norm Walker, Judy Barry and Carla Kurachi have supported the incoming economical disaster Dr. Wolford intends to see in place. They have bullied the public, misinterpreted information to their advantage, withheld information and costs, and charged ahead with a plan they knew this district could not afford. Come September if this plan comes into place, we parents and faculty will see overcrowded and understaffed campuses. The money to keep restructuring in place will be from other programs or supplies.
