What’s Up Doc? Bugs Bunny will be joining Elvis and Marilyn soon. Not in heaven. On postage stamps. . . . Burbank-based Warner Bros. and the U.S. Postal Service said that cwazy wabbit will appear on a stamp in 1997. Bugs will be the spokes-bunny for a new stamp-collecting program.

Selling America: The beloved bunny is no stranger to promotion. . . . He has a commendation from the Marines for selling World War II war bonds. Still, having his famous ears on a stamp is an honor, says a studio spokesman. “We are very proud that Bugs has been asked to serve his country once again.”

Home Run: It’s Round 1 of the NCAA college softball finals tonight in Fullerton. CSUN cleanup hitter Chelo Lopez, above, who plays first base, and catcher Scia Maumausolo form one of the most feared one-two punches in college softball. (C8)

Same Name: What does the Democratic candidate for state Senate in the 21st District share with the television crime drama “Law and Order”? A name: Adam Schiff. It’s the moniker of the head prosecutor on the show. The real Schiff is a former federal prosecutor who says it’s a mystery how the character got his name. More politics on B5.

Heartstopper: The chest pains that led Republican state Sen. Newton Russell straight to surgery last week struck only hours after he passed a treadmill test. The Glendale lawmaker is recovering quickly after a quadruple bypass operation. How well is he? . . . Well enough to ask about his bills this week, says staffer Kay Lentz.
