U.S. officials revoked the pilot’s license of Jose Basulto, the Cuban American whose flight into Cuban airspace in February resulted in Cuban military jets shooting down two accompanying light aircraft, killing four men. The action by the Federal Aviation Administration came after Basulto filed a flight plan in Miami signaling his intention to fly into Cuba’s air-defense identification zone, opening the way for another attack. FAA officials said the “emergency order” had been pending for almost a week.
