International Remote Posts 48% Sales Increase

International Remote Imaging Systems Inc. posted an 11% rise in first-quarter net income on a 48% rise in sales.

The Chatsworth-based maker of urinalysis machines had net income of $442,217 in the quarter that ended March 31, compared with a $397,494 profit in the same period a year earlier. Sales in the latest quarter were $5.2 million, up from $3.4 million last year.

The company said there was a one-time charge of $210,000 in expenses in the latest quarter due to its recent acquisition of StatSpin.
