Education Council Honors 5 for Nursing Excellence
Five nurses at various medical facilities have been honored with the 1996 Nursing Excellence Award, sponsored by the Ventura County Education Council.
The awards were selected by a panel of non-Ventura County residents based on the recommendations of other nurses, physicians, family members, patients and others.
Winner of a special award this year was Ruth P. Sandmann, who has worked in the nursing profession for 50 years.
Other award recipients were Sharon Bick, administrator and owner of MediTech Health Services, in the administration category; Martha Perez-Lugo of Community Memorial Hospital and Mary Kay Strak of MediTech Health Services, in the clinical category, and Cindy Fahey of the Ventura County Medical Center, in the education category.
All are registered nurses.
