15 Foreign Markets OK Xircom Modem Upgrade

Xircom Inc. has announced an upgrade for its high-speed PC Card modem products that adds more than a dozen international approvals for broader use worldwide.

The upgrade also improves connectivity at higher speeds, company officials said, providing enhanced performance and greater reliability.

“We have seen a great demand in international markets for our mobile communications [products], particularly among multinational companies who are looking to standardize on a single vendor,” said Renee Bader, director of mobile client products for Xircom.

“Obtaining certifications for our international modem products is an important first step in developing products and services that will meet the requirements of mobile professionals worldwide.”

The new release for Xircom’s third-generation CreditCard Ethernet+Modem 28.8 adds 15 international approvals for compliance with each country’s specific requirements, bringing the total to 18 countries worldwide.

This compliance allows the products to be sold and used in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea and Malaysia.

The products also are being tested in seven other countries.

Xircom develops and manufactures products for mobile and remote portable computer users.
