Apple Names Chief Operating Officer: Apple Computer Inc., in another step in its efforts to rebound, named former Texas Instruments Inc. executive Marco Landi to the post of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Landi, who joined Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple in March 1995 after 25 years with Texas Instruments, will start his new job on June 1, the company said in a statement. He is currently president of Apple Computer Europe, Middle East and Africa. Landi will be responsible for the implementation of Apple’s overall business planning and oversee its newly formed product units and other operations.
