Impact of 800-Home Plan to Be Discussed

A meeting to discuss the impact of the development of more than 800 homes in the Newport Coast on Laguna Beach will be held Thursday.

The proposed Irvine Co. development would be just north of the city, near El Morro Elementary School.

A separate development of about 20 homes is being proposed for two parcels within the city boundaries above High Drive at the north end of Laguna Beach.

Speakers will discuss the possible impacts on schools, traffic, parking and the environment. They will include City Councilman Wayne J. Baglin, Laguna Beach Unified School District Board President Jan Vickers and representatives from the community and the Irvine Co.

The meeting, which is being sponsored by several community groups, will be at the Laguna Beach Women’s Club on Saint Anns Drive and Glenneyre Street at 7:30 p.m.
